How it works

How Sally R connects to your existing systems and optimizes ventilation, heating and cooling around your building’s needs.

Connected to your building

A smart layer above your existing control systems

Sally R combines indoor climate measurements and operating data from the building’s BMS or automation system with electricity prices, weather data and forecasts. We adapt operation as conditions change and use predictive models to anticipate future needs. This allows us to coordinate heating, ventilation and cooling based on both current conditions and what lies ahead.

We send adjusted setpoints back to the existing control system, which continues to control the installations. Sally R provides the overall optimization.

Which measurements and setpoints are used?

Examples of measurement data and control signals. Available signals and permitted adjustments are checked for each property.

Every adjustment feeds new measurements back into Sally R, continuously balancing energy use and indoor climate.

Your existing control system (BMS)

Measurement data and setpoints pass directly or through a local gateway, depending on the system.

How we connect to your control system

Sally R connects to the building’s existing control system to read measurements and send setpoints back. The connection has two parts:

Communication within the building

Measurements and setpoints are exchanged with the control system and building controllers, for example via BACnet/IP or Larmia REST.

The connection to Sally R

A local gateway or your BMS transfers information to and from Sally R’s cloud service, for example via MQTT over TLS.

We review controllers, versions and available signals to determine how your property can be connected. You do not need to know all the technical details before an initial discussion.

Getting started

Three steps to a more energy-efficient building

We review the conditions together, connect your systems and follow up the results.

  1. Initial review

    Our role at Sally R
Review your systems, available measurements and integration needs.
    Your role as the customer
Share your goals, how the building is used and the system information you have.
  2. Connection and checks

    Our role at Sally R
Configure the connection and check signals and control limits before starting.
    Your role as the customer
Arrange access with your operations team or integrator and agree which settings may change.
  3. Optimization and follow-up

    Our role at Sally R
Adjust settings within agreed limits and follow energy use and indoor climate.
    Your role as the customer
Report changes in building use and review the results together with us.

Common questions

Are additional sensors needed?Existing measurements come first. Additional sensors depend on the gaps.

Temperature, air quality and operating data are reviewed for the planned control. Handlaren 3 used added temperature, humidity, CO₂ and VOC sensors; that is one example, not a requirement for every building.

Who stays in control?Your existing control system remains part of the control chain.

Sally R calculates setpoints applied directly or through a gateway. Permitted changes, manual overrides and operation during communication outages must be defined for the installation; these arrangements vary between control systems.

How are savings and costs assessed?Savings need a defined comparison. Pricing requires a property-specific quotation.

Savills IM reports 26% lower energy consumption for Handlaren 3 in June 2023–May 2024 versus the preceding twelve months, and 300,000 kWh in calculated annual savings. This is not a forecast for your property. Your baseline, treatment of weather and operating changes, and any installation costs need to be established separately.
